I have a 250 inline 6 and couldn't find the torque specs for the 4 nuts on the torque converter. Does anyone know what I need to torque them to?
if you cant find the factory specs, try searching for a general torque spec for the size of the stud.
X-2... it really isn't holding anything down...just on. the converter can't go anywhere if all of them are loose. it's not a biggy. I've never torqued one and have done 20 or more...
if the nut is loose the studs and nuts will eat away at each other till the holes get elongated and the studs snap off. also too tight can stretch the studs to the point of failure.
lol exactly what you just said is why im wanting to find the correct torque. But if worse case I cant find the specs ill just use the torque specs for the v8. It says to tighten the torque converter on the v8 to 50 ft. lb.
thats why i posted the link to the engineering page of torque values. i dont remember if the studs on the converter are 3/8s or 5/16s. they are grade 8. 3/8s calls for 47 ft/lbs 5/16s calls for 29 ft/lbs.
you are talking about a worst case ...with all of them loose. as before...never... had one come loose.
