I need to touch up a very small area of an otherwise perfect piece. Is there any way anybody knows of to do this without sending the part out to be completely rechromed?? Even if not a perfect match, something close would be better than nothing. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

DJ; if it is on plastic, use the 'bare metal foil' that modelers use. It works, and will cling on pretty well. You can put some clear laquer on it, and it will stay. If it is on metal, I think that polishing and some chrome paint may make it passable. Give it a try.

Thanks for the suggestion, I've never heard of that stuff before, but it sounds like just the thing I need. I'll let you know how it works out.

There is a place in Calif called "Just Dashes". I read that they had a marker type of "paint" that was supposed to be good. YMMV

Let the board know what happens

    bare metal foil

THANKS SOOOOO MUCH for that suggestion, this stuff is golden!!! My dash came out PERFECTLY, and it looks like it will last a long time. I think this stuff is better than the original "paint" or whatever it was they used, because I can't see this wearing thin during dash detailing, etc.

Jerry; bare metal foil is what modelers use to simulate chrome on models. It is a micro thin sheet of chrome, or polished aluminum, and is a bear to work with sometimes, depending on where you are going to put it. But, it works, and looks nice when done right. You get it at a hobby or model shop. We have one here called Auto Motif, and he has a lot of it, in chrome, black chrome, copper, and a few others. BTW, coming to Moultrie the weekend before Thanksgiving????? Hope to see you there!
