My 95 F150 needs a new torque converter(very bad lock-up shudder) and would like to upgrade it in the process. The primary purpose of this truck is towing my maverick. I'm looking a hughes converters, stall speed is 1800 rpm and says "Recommended for slightly modified engines". What do they define as slightly modified engines. My truck has a stock 5.0, but i will eventually get headers and a true duel exhaust system for it. Will this converter work with my stock 5.0 or should I just stick with a napa replacement? Any input is appreciated.

Is this truck 2 or 4 wheel drive and what is the gear ratio in the diff...You need to know the gear ratio, in order to make a proper desicion on converter stall speed as well as cruising rpm in top gear (OD) Knowing where the engine is making peak torque is a good idea too...

2wd, 3.08 rear, I have no clue what my cruise rpm is as I dont have a tach. Stock engine is rated at 205hp@4000 and 270ft-lbs@3000 from what I can find on the interwebs.

I would go with the stock converter, throw a J-mod in there and consider changing your diff ratio to 3.55's.
