I have a c4 200 I6. The tranny shifts well when driving forward. When I put it in reverse it Jerks pretty bad. I have to keep my foot tight on the brakes. When I go back to drive it is OK. I have already changed U-Joints. Is this just an adjustment somewhere?

Sounds like you have an idle that is too high or you need to install another clutch plate in the High / reverse pack.
Make sure your idle is right - then you may have to look inside the tranny to fix it.

What about the low/reverse band? Couldn't the servo be sticking / apply passage be dirty / band be slightly out of adjustment?

When troubleshooting a transmission you fix the engine first and then you can test the tranny. If there are engine problems you will never find them looking at the tranny and they cause what seems to be tranny problems.
The band could be in need of adjustment but it still wouldn't jerk badly unless the idle RPM is too high. Fix the idle first - then look elsewhere.
For a stock C4 the rear band adjustment is: Torque to 10 FOOT pounds and back it off 3 turns. For those with TransGo kits follow the TransGo instructions and if you have a B&M kit in it then follow the B&M instructions to adjust the band.
When you go from fwd to rev with your foot on the brake and the car is stopped you get a big "CUUULUNK" do you get the same noise and jerk when you have backed up and then switch to fwd? If so then you have too much play in the forward clutches if not then the direct clutches have too much play or too few plates in the pack.
