Will a 1970 C4 automatic swap into a 1971 that has a manual "three on the tree"? I would prefer the auto over the column shift.

I assume the swap, if possible, requires coolant lines, mods to the steering column, some linkage changes, etc.

no mods to the steering column. unless you want to try and find a column that was originally in a car that had a floor shift. Just remove the lever. do you have the convertor already. If not, make sure the input spline shaft is correct. In 1970 they changed from a 24 to a 26 spline shaft. Ford was famous for using up what they had before going to the new stuff. :)
