I just had a tranny given to me and i was told it was a 4 speed but they didn't know what it came out of. The numbers on the case are C5AR 7008 then a big B. There is a data tag on there with HEF CV 048433. Anybody have any idea what it is and what it is out of? Any help is appreciated.

Got a pic? How many shifting shafts stick out the side? Where is the cover located?

Going by the casting number i was able to find out it is out of a 65 galaxy but cant figure out what motor it was behind. I am hoping i can use it in my comet.

if you count reverse as a gear, its a 4 speed. However its really only a 3 speed. Junk it. Its probably not even a synchronized 1st gear.

According to "the book" it's a 3-speed, 3.03 first gear, used in '63 - '66 six cylinders and 289's. Including taxi cabs! :D
