Ok, guys, since I may or may not have finally solved my ignition problems I think I'm about to work on my transmission since I have a few days off. I'm going to change the transmission filter and maybe add a shift kit, all that I want to know is what is involved. Can I do it all with just some ramps, wrenches, sockets, screwdrives, etc..? Also what is involved? What do I have to do to the transmission to access the filter or to add a shift kit? Any pics of the process would be great, like is there an access panel on the bottom of the transmission for these things?

make sure you have a good size pan to catch the tranny fluid. loosen the rear bolts first. as you loosen the rest of the bolts, let the rear start to hang down and the tranny fluid will start to drain out. one of the things i always do when i take the pan off is to put in a drain plug. you can get these from any auto place like auto zone or csk. makes it a lot easier the next time. after you've drained the pan and start to unbolt the filter tranny fluid will also come out again so keep the pan there. also i never seem to catch it all so i keep a supply of kitty litter available for the inevitable fluid clean up. good luck. :D

when you drop the filter be sure and catch the spring and little piston that will drop out ( looks like a nail with a thick shank) just lower the filter slowly until you see the spring, the filter holds it in,that way you know were it goes, then be sure and put it back in or your trans. will slip between 2nd & 3rd, been told it could burnup your clutches.
