Hello all, it's been a while.

My brake system started losing pressure and fluid like crazy last week. The culprit is the proportioning valve / switch. I called ALL around town and no part store can even find evidence for this part...now I know sometimes if you don't ask right, you'll never find anything in most modern parts stores...so what do I need to have them search for OR...where can I get these parts for a 72 250 4 wheel non-powered drums? I's prefer not to pull from a yard, because I may end up with the same problem

    thanks again

You can take yours off and send it in and get it rebuilt. That is what I did. Do a search on the subject.

Are you sure it is the prop valve and not the master cyl? I have never seen a prop valve go bad.

it's actually just the switch itself (old, brittle and cracked) , I just assumed that it would come packaged together withthe prop valve

If you get it rebuilt...they can replace that switch. They also test it before they send it back to you.

You have to be careful when you reinstall and bleed the brakes. You don't want to pump the crap out of your brakes when you first start bleeding them or you will blow out the seals (I Know....I did it 3 times. I had to take it off and send it in again to get rebuilt.)

When the valve is made to do several functions (prop valve, pressure warning switch, and residual pressure valve) like ours are, sometimes they are referred to as "combination valves".

Perhaps if the parts store searched using that, they may turn up something in their listings.
