i have searched the archieves and can not find the post of different cosmetic ideas in trunks as in carpeting and paint if anyone could help I would appreciate it Thanks
Chandler, AutoKrafters sells a nice gray carpet mat for the Mav - I just bought one and really like it. I think it was around $35.00. Also, for the metal areas that are not covered with a carpet, you could use the spatter paint if you like the stock look. If you're not concerned about absolute correctness, you can save a few dollars and buy that "sandstone" paint that is sold at Home Depot. The gray variety is remarkably similar to the factory spatter paint, and its half the price you'd pay for the real stuff from Eastwood. I think it's Rust-O-leum brand, but I'll look later when I'm out in the shop, and I'll snap a few pics of my trunk that I recently did this way. Sam
Here is a link to a thread where I posted pictures of what I did with my trunk: http://www.maverick.to/mmb/showthread.php?t=9476
Hey Mark......glad to see you! Lonnie....that ain't fair......it would be a little more difficult to lay that carpet in a "normal" maverick
this is what i did in my trunk, i got the carpet from home depot in a roll for $20.00, and a can of spray adhesive, made the quarter panel filler panel and the taillight covers out of 1/8" cardboard matting then covered them with carpet.still have to cover a couple of other items with carpet.
I used 1/8th board from home depot and black carpet from Wally World to line my trunk. I built the floor first and then the sides, back and tailight covers. It came out really nice. They sides and back fold down to hide tools, cleaning supplies and eventually stereo equipment.
Chris, I sent you a PM also on the left and right side where do you die the ends off do you angle it up behind the trunk lip or does it go to the 1/4 it self. Also is it just cut tightly to stay in place or is there velcro behind it to secure so it does't move around while you are driving. Thanks Again
I'm not sure what you mean "die the ends off do you angle it up behind the trunk lip" I think I'll have to get some more pictures. The panels are hinged to the floor and held in place with velcro. The peice behind the rear seat also aids in holding the sides in place. The side will not fold down unless the back is down because they overlap.
I just tell people that it is to store cleaning suplies and tools. Its really for battery on one side and Nos on the other. You guys can keep a secret cant you? BTW... this is not the current setup but is what I have in store for it.
