I have a 1973 Green, stock, two-door Comet. When these cars were new, did they have any kind of trunk liner in them? If they did I'd like to have mine relined so it looks like it used to. Mine is just undercoated metal. If anybody has images of what that trunk liner should look like, please e-mail them to me. Maybe I can replicate it.

    Thanks,

I'm not sure when it changed. I have seen '72 cars with the plaid Mustang style vinyl/plastic liner. My '74 Comet GT came with grey short cut pile carpet fitted to
the trunk floor. I went back with splatter paint after using bedliner in there.

Medium gray very short cut fuzzy style. Funny thing is my first '74 had red and not gray so there could have been a few different colors.

I don't feel like making another thread but here's a thought- Couldn't you easily make a new trunk mat for your Mav? Has anyone done this? I've looked online and I really don't want to dish out a ton of cash for that ugly plaid! (Ugly for my car.. wouldn't match) I don't necessarily mean it looks ugly in your guys' cars........... ;)

I probably will make one of carpet eventually. All of the parts cars I've seen are without them so I was just wondering.

I am giving my trunk a nice coat of undercoating and hitting it with spatter paint after it cures.(y)

The trunk in my dad's Comet and the whole underside of the car was painted with that splatter paint. I remember we stayed under the car painting it till like 3 AM that night painting away and when we finnaly got done me and my dad got out from under the car and my dad started laughing at me and said I had splatter paint all over my face and I about died laughing and told him to go look in a mirror.

Sorry, brought back a memory... :)
