I am trying to MATCH the existing trunk splatter paint for my 73 Comet. Anyone have any success in this area. Its is a very light gray. NPD sells some for Mustangs, but it is described as dk gray.
Just repaint the entire thing and don't worry about matching it ... I used Eastwood Splatter ... Black and gRay I think ... Not sure if there really was any consistency at the factory or not ...
Be careful with spatter paint. Some are water based or contain water. My uncle sprayed his trunk with some of that and within a year, everything it touched was rusting. Get good quality stuff. Dave
Done Deal.. DupiColor DM100 is a very close match, and probably could not be faulted from over 3 feet. It took 3 cans. The stuff does not go far. I am gonna check it to see if it needs a flat clear sealer. Thanks guys.
Has anybody used the spatter paint from dynamat, Dynashield? I'm gonna used the Xtreme Dynamat on my floorboards, and the spray on kind looks promising for the trunk. It needs it!
I used dupli color bout 6 months ago light grey and black.. holding up very well...looks nice and clean....
i bought some spray cans of it from checker autop parts... it was a light gray with speckle in it/... it looked really close to factory.... only prob i had... my trunk seals arent great and the water got in again and the paint kinda got messed up ... so i was thinking if doing my own splatter.... gray filler primer as a base... then take black, red, light yellow... whatever else colors there are and just fling the paint myself.. might look ok.. might not... but i was thinking of trying it and then put carpet over it if i dont like the look...
FYI ... splatter paint is water based .. so if it gets wet it gets ruined. You must clear over the splatter once it drys ...
