I heard that you cannot use the V-8 factory brace under the car w/ the Tubular Auto 351C headers...is this true regarding the Boss 302 headers w/ the 2" pipes? thanks!
Not true for either engine! Keep the brace. Engine mount mods are needed, or you can convert to early SBF mounts with iron frame stands. Dave
They don't move the engine any that I noticed. The iron stands were the original engine mounts for the SBF. Around mid-65 the mounts were changed to what we know today and became more specific to the vehicle. However, just as the 65-70 frame stands can be used in our cars, so can the pre-65.5 iron stands. The engine side mount from that time can be used as well. The reason for that, IMO, is that there is some adjustability built into this design. The iron stands bolt on where our stands do, however they are much more compact, as are the engine side mounts. This leaves more room for tubes. Dave
Many years ago - I put a Boss 302 in a 65 Coupe Mustang . Bought Tubular Automotive Headers - made a custom crossmember - and modified the original engine mounts ( the cast iron frame mount and single bolt motor mount ). It was all custom tailored to fit and worked great . I eventually went back to a Windsor engine setup . Took all the above mentioned off and packed in a box- still have the entire setup if you or anyone else is interested.
