Alright ive search and read all those threads and i gotta make sure i got this right,my turn signals dont work, the lighs come on but no flash lights come on on the cluster,so i went and got a new flasher and to put it on i need to reach up under the dash on the left side of the colunm un plug it and plug in my new one right,or do i need to pull out my instrument cluster and go through there? Oh and its a 74' Mav. Thanks!
Do the signals blink on the outside of the car and you are just not seeing the indicators flash in the dash, or do they not work at all? If the signals work fine, but no indicators are showing in the dash those bulbs may be bad. If the signals don't work at all it could be your flasher. There are two under the dash, one for the turn signals and one for the flashers. I don't remember which is which, but make sure you replace the one you are going for.
The light on the outside and inside come on but dont flash. I know what the problem is and got the new part i just need to make sure how to change it.
If your emergence flasher work inside and out then it is your turn sig. flasher change the flasher you are good to go ..
ok update!!! Still not working i change the only thing i could find, this is the part i took out it say's on it motorcraft D2AB-13350-AA,also say's tung-sol flasher 12 volts made in canada pat no. 689273 Here is the plug it came from with a new flasher i got.
Based on the wire colors, I would say that is the hazard flasher. The turn flasher wires should be Black-Lt Grn and Lt Blue. The turn flasher is the hard one to reach.
ok so its farther up in there,is there any tricks to get up there to it like pullin the cluster or anything,or just squeeze my arm up in there lol.
It might be easier if you pull the cluster. But you can get to it from under the dash. See if you can spot it using a flashlight first.
If I go out for a smoke later on. I will take a look at my car and check the wire colors on the turning signal flasher and post them.
I found it a LOT easier to remove the lower dash, sounds like a lot of work but it really makes the job a lot easier. I have 2 flashers right next to each other, directly above the fuse box, I dont see where the other one should be too much further away from what you have setup.
Well i found it it was tucked up behind the cluster the flasher itself was sitting on the shelf behind the cluster i pushed it over alittle wih a flathead screwdriver and it fell down behind the dash right next to the other one and it was an easy fix after that!!!
I was going to say that if the taillights aren't firmly grounded at their socket, it will glow solid and not flash. I have had this problem several times. I just pop the trunk and twist the spring-loaded socket a couple time until it scratches into the metal a bit, and it will start to blink again. Sounds like your problem was with the flasher. Oh well, thought I would throw that out in case someone does a search and finds this thread later on.
