Im working on a 71 maverick, full body restoration and I ran across an odd problem.. The turn signals stay lit up? I troubleshooted by unplugging both the turn signal switch and the brake light switch, neither of which fixed the problem. Any suggestions?

terrible image, you can hardly tell that both lights are lit up, the car is started but both blinkers are still lit?

It could mean a bulb is burnt out.

Ive been looking at other common reasons associated with this. Ive seen either a bad ground, burnt out bulb, or a flasher?

With the signal and brake light switches disconnected only voltage path back to the indicators in the dash should be through the flashers(don't forget there are two), but if exterior signals operate they should be OK... Easy enough to unplug flashers... If signal switch wasn't unplugged I'd suggest checking position of four way flasher sw...

For reference the grounds for front signals are down low, on either side of radiator... Ground for headlamps should be provided by same screws...

So would you say i should try and unplug each flasher at a separate time and see if that indicates the problem? And off the top of your head would you know where the grounds for the back signals are located.

The voltage normally has to come through the flashers to power any of the lamps, if they remain on after unplugging flasher, would indicate voltage is being supplied by some other source such as short in wiring...

Not sure where rear ground is, likely in trunk...

i suspect the dash cluster ground is bad. when it loses ground the gauges power will back feed through the bulbs to find ground.

Rear bulbs are self grounding thru the light socket

Im not much of an electrician haha but how would i go about fixing the ground issue? Find the ground in the rear and try to re ground it, as well as the ground in the dash cluster?

When the turn signal switch goes bad it can do goofy things.

I just finished replacing the turn signal switch, the turn signals are still lit up solid inside the car and out.

My car did this when I had a bad ground on the rad support for the front turn lamps. Just unbolted the grounds and cleaned em with sand paper.
Edit just saw you already checked grounds.
