So my 1970 maverick has some terrible steering, it takes 20 turns of the wheel to get form point to point and its not to fun needless to say. i'm wanting to upgrade it to the best steering i can so it could turn and handle like a modern day car. I know RRS has a rack and pinion conversion kit, but for way too much. is rack and pinion the best option? if so is there any donor cars i could go searching for that could convert over? thanks

I have manual steering and it's hard to turn but really doesn't all that many turns to turn the wheels.

use a power steering box. it has a faster ratio in it. make sure the tires have proper air pressure. if the pressure is low it will be hard to turn. make sure all your ball joints, tie rod ends, idler arm, and bushings are in good shape.
