Any one know of a good upholstery shop in NE Ohio area? Going to need some door panels, front and rear seats done. I have a van, so I wouldnt mind driving them a couple hours. Thanks.
I found a couple independent guys in my hometown who work out of their garage. Both do great work. Maybe you can ask around at a Cruise in or car show if anyone knows somebody
I still like my old idea. Get some 71-73 Mustang (or Mav) buckets. Recover them with repop Mustang covers. Get an upholstery shop to cover the back seat to match. It looks like your car is going to turn out very nice. I think it would be worth your time to try to find some nice factory door panels.
I wanna keep the bench. Kinda matches my AM radio, LOL. I didnt think it was possible to get nice factory door panels anymore. Guess I would have to compare the cost of those to having some made. Or course I have no idea what either would cost.
Have u checked w/ Fred Carello? He makes door panels and does seat covers. I have some of his seat covers and have seen his door panels in Bob Tackett's Grabber - they are nice. I think I may have posted a pix somewhere here on Bob's interior. If I were having some door panels done Fred wud be my "Go to Guy". My panels are in relatively gud shape or I wud have had him do mine. I found a pix of Bob's interior - pretty nice uh?
Fred Carello is on the board FMC56 is his handle. Ph# 401-739-4462. His address: 71 Leigh St., Warwick, RI. 02889. email: fredcarello@yahoo.com. Fred does excellent work but if ur in a hurry better look elsewhere. He has the patterns for our cars and can do factory comparble materials. He will mail u samples after u contact him and discuss what u have in mind. He requires payment in full B4 work is done. If u want to get ur stuff for early spring I suggest u get him going soon. I place my order in mid Jan 2010 and I think it was late March B4 I got the order. Hope this helps... This is a pix of Bob Tacketts interior. I really like his door panels.
If you wanted to ship them I could have them done for you by the middle of March. Do you have any idea how you want them done? Original or custom? Any ideas on a design if not original? Vinyl, cloth or both. Maybe leather?, kinda expensive though. PM if interested.
Are u in the upholstery business Mark? Did'nt know anyone else here was doing custom upholstery. Fred is the only person I've heard of.
This is what I did to my high backs, I put black mach1 covers and new mustang foam on and they look very good... I still need to get the back seat redone to match...
I was originally considering the Stang covers but heard/read on the forum the seats were different. I did'nt know what the difference might be; meaning, how much larger/smaller physically. I was skeptical of buying something I cud not use and be stuck w/ it. Also, did'nt want to have to do a lot of modifications and still did'nt look gud. I assume u overcame this issue and made it work. I think there are others here wud be interested in ur upgrade. Can u post some pix?
The 71-72 Mav/Comet bucket seats are the same as the 71-73 Mustang high back buckets. 73 Mav/Comet buckets are unique. LDO (any year?) Mav/Comet buckets are unique. I don't know about 74 and up Mav/Comet buckets. http://www.maverick.to/mmb/showthread.php?t=81069 That is from memory, so if something is wrong, someone please fix my errors.
Everett, Yes I am since 1972. Started in back east and 20 years ago moved to Colorado but looking forward to moving back home and picking up where I left off. Will post a couple of pics of my work. If it's impossible, I'll do it.
I would be interested in some pics of your door panel work. Doesn't have to be mav. Would this include new board? Id probably go vinyl, since id need both benches done too.
Everett, the seats didn't need any mods there the same as 71/73 mach1 seats... I like freds work a lot better but I was on a budget....
