Assuming your talking about Mavericks and Comets only, and if both cars have disc brakes, then no, there is no difference.

And the earlier drum brake cars shared the same spindles, V8, I6, 4-lug, 5-lug were the same.

    Disc/drum

So, all spindle sare the same within the same years? Drum or Disc does not matter? My question: I have a 72 Grabber with an I6 and front drums (4 lug), would I be able to find a set of 5 lug disc set up of (what years?) to fit my car?

Disc spindles are different than drum spindles.

    Drum to Disc

I have access to a 1980 Monarch w/302 and C4. The discs and rear are 5 lug. I am under the impression that everything would swap from one car to the next, right.

    1) I know I would need the spindle, rotor and the brake caliper from the Monarch but would I also need the tie rod ends (or complete tie rod assembly) from it too?
    2) Would I need to take the upper or lower control arms to make it all bolt up?
    3) Are all the upper and lower control arms the same on the I6 and V8 cars?

I am going to take the complete rear end from drum to drum also, unless someone knows if a Lincoln MKVII (7) rear with discs would work. Any thoughts on this one? I really prefer facts though. I will also be taking the proportioning valve for the front/rear bias of the disc system.

Use your existing control arms but get the outer tie rod end that matches the new spindle. I6s and V8s used the same control arms.

All you need is the spindles and all the brake stuff bolted to it. Will bolt right on your a arms. Your tie rod ends should also work with no problems. Mine did.
