Went to a Car show at Mustangs Unlimited today (won 1st place in non-Mustang and a $25 Gift Certificate :) ... ) and brought a set of original V8 engine side bushings and a mount with me. The 71/73 Frame Side bushings they are selling repop are identical to the engine side Maverick Bushings ... the guy let me open up the bag and verify they were the same.

Congrats on the show!!! How bout post a picture of what you got. I finally resorted to having the ball stud made at a machine shop that should use the big plastic roller like goes on the frame side. They said they would have it ready Monday. I hope...I'm ready to get the car rolling again. I fired it up a few minutes ago (1st time in about 4 months) just to listen to it. :D I got all my wiring replaced, all my gauges redone, and now I'm considering doing something with my tach. Take a look at this and tell me what you think it might look like if I installed it inside the cluster on the left side. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4645132739&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AITIt has everything but the fuel gauge.

Oh okay...I saw those pieces already. I'm trying to duplicate the stud that takes the plastic ball. I purchased the big block ball which is the same size as the one on the frame side. Instead of my stud hacing the ball made on it, I should be able to put the plastic ball on the engine side too and have a keeper on the end of it. I'm hoping it will work.
I was thinking the same thing about the tach. I wish it was all white lights. For the price, I may just get one and take it apart and see what it's made out of. I sure would like to have one inside my cluster.

If you gave the machine shop your Frame Side mount to duplicate you should be good to go ... I can say that the original setup with the ball allowed the z-bar to angle several degrees in all directions. Not sure if Ford did this to allow body-flex or engine motion during torque ... I know all the big-block Mustangs and the 71-73 had a ball on one end of the z-bar to allow this movement. Even the Maverick 250 had a ball on one end with the bushing above but it was on the frame side like the mustangs. The 170/200 had just the stud on both sides ... as did early V8 Mustangs.

Back in 2002 I went to CJ Pony parts and found some bushings to use in mine. I dont remember which ones I got but I dont remember them looking like that. Makes me wonder what I used.

Ray, did you notice the small gauges are in metric? Too bad its not a volt meter rather than the oil temp.

There is a company (auto meter???) that sells a Speedo combo with the other gauge being what they call a 'quad'.
Two 5" gauges, the quad has a oil press, water temp, fuel level, and volt meter.
They can be bought separately as well.
    In the current Summit catalog.

Sounds just like what you are looking for Ray.

    Sorry for the hi-jack!
I would PM, but then other members wouldn't get the info.
