I have to know: Is it truly necessary to have the V8 support bar??

I notched and re-built my shock towers stronger than they were from the factory. Also, I realize that it can also be hard to find/expensive. I was wondering if it's possible to make my own. I have lots of steel tubing and am a fairly accomplished welder.

Also, which letter is the V8 bar in this picture? (just trying to clarify where it is, cuz I don't know)

(the car is not mine, used to be my brother's before he junked it)

    Thanks,

theres quite a few guys on here that say its not necessary. if you do want one autokrafters.com has them new for around $80 it think. it would be item C in your pic. 6 cylinder mavs and comets dont have them so you dont need to wast time looking there.

    good luck

They are not needed to do the swap.
They serve no purpose in mounting anything.
    They just add strength.
    Short answer:
They are not needed and folks have V8s without the belly bar.

    Long answer (at least thought-wise):
The bar is there to add strength.
It would be worth it to do the swap and look for a bar or make one up... even after you already have the swap done and running if it takes some time to get around to it.
