Hello fellow Maverick and Comet people

I am new to the forum and was wanted to know if anyone could help me.
I am putting together a 1974 Ford Maverick 2 door with a 302 V8 and T-10 4 speed. I have managed to get most of it together through junkyards, online stores and ebay. But I have had a hard time finding the v8 Clutch equalizer - z bar. I haven't been able to find anything, even a remanufactured one. If anyone has one for sale or knows of a remanufactured one online. It would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks - Mike

Craig Selvey, the Indiana chapter president of the Maverick/Comet Club International, should be able to help you out as he parts out Mavericks and Comets. Craig@MaverickCorral.com

Thank you Bruce! When I started this project I didn't think it was going to be this hard to find parts and trying to rig things together to work.

It's worth a shot. If he doesn't have one, search here for hydraulic or cable conversions. Good luck!

... since 4/5 of the Mavericks were SIX cylinder cars, a Z-Bar from a 250 six cylinder car may be sourceable' and should fit as the 250 has same FW, BH etc as SBF .
    .
while building an early Comet with a 250 , I used a '71 170 cid six Maverick Z-Bar and cut it shorter to fit the SBF sized 250 block pivot ball.

Awesome! I sourced my current one from a former member from Kentucky. A totally new fabrication.

I used '66 Mustang clutch linkage. All the Mustang parts houses and evilbay sell it.

Is there any modifications needed with using 1966 mustang linkage?

Not really. Just have to use the smaller diameter Mustang pivot balls on the block and frame. IIRC I think they are the same size as Maverick 6 cylinder pivot balls.

Here is all that I had to go through to use a 250 z-bar to work on a V8. Z-Bar (1bad6t.com)

It'll probably work. I only used '66 parts because that's what my friend had laying around his garage when we installed the V8.
