Hey guys I need some help with figuring out what set of springs I will need. I am in a similar situation as scooper was in . I have a 68 block with e7 heads on it. It's running fine, but I dont want to run into a problem down the road. The car really has not been street driven yet, just started once in a while, since I'm not completely done with it. I'm using a 351 cam in it p/n 229-1833 (clevite) So after looking thru Clevite's catalog. I see that I heed a spring with a 100lb seat & 265lb open pressure. What I need to know is: The spring that i'm finding that match these specs all have a smailler outside Diameter, than the roller springs that are installed. Will this cause a probblem with the springs sitting over the valve correctly? Can the retainers from the roller springs be re-used, or do I need to buy a whole kit? Thanks for any help with this guys.
I don't have the answer. I called up a buddy of mine that works in parts, and he asked a buddy of his what I needed, and sold those to me. I trusted both of them, and have been happy ever since. You just have to find someone who knows these heads and cams and ask what you need, then buy the right parts.
