From a very simple minded guy...LOL
My 74 mav, 200CI, L6, 3 speed man. transmission, is hesitating on acceleration. Where should I look? Timing? Dwell? Carb(too lean? Too rich?)? All of the above? None of the above?

Vacuum leak or advance not working. Loose carb, which is common problem on the six.
Just about all you have mentioned above, also check for clogged fuel filter. Sounds like a lean condition which could be in the carb or other leaks etc. Timing chain, if the 200 has one?????

    I've had a few
All of the above, but the carb would be the last thing on my list to check. Timeing would be the first. Base timeing should be set at 6 degrees BTDC at idle, with the vaccume advance disconnected and plugged.

I'd take the opertunity to get rid of the points. I just did yet another Duraspark II conversion and it's unbelieveable how much smoother it makes the cars run.

The 200 does have a timeing chain.

If you are stepping on the throttle and it bogs for a moment and then comes to life your carb is the first place I would look. If the accelerator pump is ruptured or leaking back into the bowl or if the cup type piston on it is worn out you will get the symptoms I describe. Rebuild it and it is all good.

I would check timing, dwell and the carb. With the air cleaner off and the choke plate fully open without the engine running look into the carb and push the throttle lever back to see it squirts gas into the carb. If it does the carb is not the main problem. Then I would look at the points next. Check to see if they are burnt and what gap they have. If there is a problem with the points replace them with new ones. Dont file them or clean them up, not worth the hassel. After you get your points set right set the timing as above. If your problem is still present check the backlash on the timing chain. There should not be more than about 6 deg. Anything over that will probably cause a drivability problem.

    Hope this helps.
