I have been working on a 76 2dr Maverick that I bought just a couple weeks ago. The car is all original, it's got a 250 Inline 6 with a C4 automatic trans The car has some issues, but its also got allot of potential. My plan was to fix the car up, doing the majority of the work myself so that it wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg. I have been doing allot of research on these little cars, and had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do with it, Small bumper swap, hop up the 250, and fix all the broken stuff. But after 3 weeks spent looking for parts and not finding them, or finding parts and almost choking to death when told the prices. I've finally had a bit of luck. I got a call in answer to a Maverick parts car wanted add I placed in Craigslist. after spending almost all day getting it ready to tow. I just pulled in my driveway with a 1971 Mav 2dr, with almost perfect bumpers, valances, and fenders. As well as a whole bunch of other parts that are way better than whats on my car. In fact if this car only had a title, and wasn't quite so rusty in the rear quarters I would fix it up instead of My 76. I cant wait to get started swapping parts tomorrow.

    Looks like a nice project.

If you upload your pictures to a Photobucket account you can post them on the board from there. You also have more room there to store pictures than you do here too.

    Hope this helps,

Welcome to the board and congratulation on the parts car score.

One thing of note (you may already know this) the 69-72 doors and some '73s are lighter due to a reinforcement bar added in for safety (same time frame as the bigger bumpers were phased in). Most racer guys prefer these due to this fact.
Good luck with your project (y)

Sometimes things aren't as they appear.

I've been tearing into the old 71 pretty hard so far this morning, Man what a rust bucket! I have used up a whole can of PB Blaster and i'm starting on the second. The body's not bad except for the quarters, but the frame is just about gone. The right front bumper bracket is rusted plum in two, and you could drop a herd of cats through the floor boards. The car has a 250 inline 6 with a c4 tranny, but according to the door sticker it started out in life as a 200 with a 3 speed manual. I'm hoping to have the whole car stripped today. Including the engine and transmission. I should have a crap load of spare parts when I'm done picking out the stuff I want, so if anybody's interested drop me a line.
    Happy Motoring!
