We got started on the Comet in earnest today. The doors present quite a challenge as you can see but we are gonna give it a go and see what happens. This is what happens when you don't keep your drain holes open.
The Cancer has been removed and POR 15 applied...new metal is ready to go in...That wa the fun part...forming the metal Will post more tomorrow
holly rust batman!!! I've never seen that before on a door, I guess that is what the back east fellows are always bitching about
Sure...if I wanna drive 300 miles and spend 200 bucks to getem..."GOOD" doors are no that easily found around here...This presented a challenge and I wanted to see if we could handle it...we will see
the POR went on first because we wanted to get the inside well before we covered it up...the weld lines will be bare metal then we will etch it and POR them...I'm not sure anyones ever tried this kind of repair on a door and I may find out why..its not gonna be easy
OK...new metal welded in, and seams grinded, gettin the contours on the metal rolled right was the hardest part I think.
One look at the interior of the car and I feel in love..its immaculate and beautiful...the pics do no justice to it. The seats are saddle tan...flash was too bright so they look white
Now as to the outside...ARRRRGGGHHHH!!!...you have to use your imagination here cuz it needs help bad, anyone got some Driver side LDO trim??? and leads on vinyl for the roof, geez it needs serious help.
As ugly as it is right now, it cruises like a Caddy and has excellent power for a stock 302, I was quite surprised at its ability to move the car the way it does. Everything comes out of the engine compartment tommorrow down to the heads for refurbishing. More pics as we progress.
