water flow?

    i pre-zoom that the water comes from the w/pump to the heater and then to the intake.:yup:
    i am installing my ...heater control valve... and it is directional (with arrow). :D

    Just pull the hose off the water pump and see if water comes spraying out when you start the motor. :D (Aside from the water that runs out when you take the hose off :rofl2: ) It sounds right given that the top hose is the outlet, but I don't know for sure.

    No, it goes from the manifold to the water pump. The water in the manifold is under pressure and the bypass, heater and radiator inlet on the pump are under vacuum so to speak. The pump forces the water into the block and up to the manifold.

    I could be wrong on this but here goes...

    In the southern hemisphere water flows counterclockwise.
    In the northern hemisphere water flows clockwise.

    yup, I just went to the restroom, definately counterclockwise :rofl2: .

    Water flows in this direction. From radiator to water pump, then the pump moves it through the block and up through the heads, then out into the intake (302 and 351w...351c doesn't have water in the intake) and back into the radiator. If you have a heater, one hose goes to the intake and one hose goes to the water pump. See...simple? Think about it...a heater core doesn't care which way water goes through it. Just put one hose on the pump and the other on the intake. The hot water coming out of the intake will flow through the heater's core and then out of the core and back into the water pump to be recirculated.

    There's your answer Frank. :)

    The heater core may not care, but it sounds like the valve that shuts the flow off when the a/c is on appears to care which direction the water is flowing, since it has an arrow on it.
