water pump

    blown water pump, wondering how easy they are to replace on my own...and if i can fit a rebuilt pump from any other fords easier to find than my maverick...not many in my county.

    Replacing a water pump is easy. You need to remove the belts, fan and pulley and than unbolt the bolts around water pump. You didn't say want engine it is. On a 302 I think there maybe a bracket to remove no big thing. Just get in there and get grease.

    Any parts store will have a water pump for the type of engine you have. They are common.

    you might want to make a drawing of the water pump and number the bolts to go back in. some of them are different lengths. just an outline. make sure you use gasket sealer on both sides of the gasket. i use the ultra blue by permatex sold at all auto parts stores.:)
