Well im looking to add a little more to my 347 and Im liking this Weiand 174 the more I read about it, my only concern is clearance of the hood. I know it sticks past the hood, but how much? Anyone have any experience with this? Its in a 72 comet.
Maverick man has one on his car, scroll down to the middle of this page: http://www.maverickman.com/BluMav.html You can ask him to see how much clearance it has, he responds very quickly via his FB page https://www.facebook.com/MaverickManCarbonInc
grannys sleeper. pull up next to an old lady and rev and you just might be surprised what happens next lol
I think it was a 12k car when I saw the it but what it sold for I have no idea. Not even positive it was on ebay.
in maverick mans picture he does have a cowl on though.... hmm im just waiting for him to get back to me, he could have just thrown on the cowl for looks
Maverickman said it cannot be done without the cowl hood(which he will we releasing a new line of carbon fiber cowl hoods for mavericks soon) So I sent him the other pictures of the comet here to see what he may know.
I actually did some hunting, that silver car above he is a member of this club http://www.maverickcometclub.org/norwalk00.php, I am trying to find a way to contact him to ask him further about the setup
I took those pictures. Really nice car and absolutley bone stock in appearance. Original paint, bench seat, etc. I am pretty sure that guy doesn't own the car anymore.
Worst case throw a Comet GT scoop on there, they look good on there and it would give you more room. I have been leaning real hard towards this set up.
I do have the scoop just no hole int he hood haha something ive debated about. For those of you also looking in the supercharger route I found this today as well, should fit under the stock hood. http://www.paxtonauto.com/product.php?id=272#parts_table The only thing is im having trouble finding the right carb for me. they say the holley 4150 models but im not sure thats what I want to use. C&S make carbs special for this application but that can get pricey as well.
174 and scoop I did this...and like it. Always liked these scoops although the Comet Gt ones are cool also.
