Just wondering if anybody can advise if a Weiand x-celerator fits under the grabber hood? I've heard pre 2000 are better quality than post 2000. The specs seem to suit my 347 . Thanks

If it's a 7515 I bet it does. I had a similar single plane on mine before I went to the Air gap.

I bet it does too since that's a lower profile single plane to begin with. It also wouldn't surprise me if the air gap is actually taller than the xcellerator due to it's very tall carb pad. Guys are making that manifold fit under the hoods.. so the weiand should be a piece of cake.

    yep

if it's the same height or less than the air gap it's gotta fit, we have a air gap and it fit's with room to spare, not much but some

Thanks for the input gents, I'm currently running a older style torker II, but the intake ports are too small for my heads. The air gap was an option but from what I have researched, they are only good up 6500rpm. I need a single plane that works to 7000. I have a Parker funnel web but cannot bring myself to cut up the hood.

My Victor Jr. fits under the hood with a 1/2" spacer and a drop base filter.

Interesting John, do you know the height/specs of a victor jar? I already have a drop base filter. Is yours a stock grabber hood?. Cheers mate

Edelbrock shows it at 5.5 tall front and rear(the carb pad is at a 0% angle). If you look at Edelbrocks web site.. they list all their manifolds dimensions.

    http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/mc/manifolds/ford/victor-289.shtml

    http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/mc/manifolds/reference-dimensions.shtml

For comparison's sake.. the air-gap has a 4.30 front and 5.50 rear height.

Thanks for that info mate, it's good to know there are options that will work. I'm still fixed on the idea of the weiand simply because of the height and the fact that it suits my cam specs, and will still just allow enough room for the nitrous plate when I choose to put it back on. Cheers
