i dont know if this is something that was made on mavericks by ford or if this was something custom put by the previous owner. next to the brake pedal there is some weird silver button that can be pressed. It is on the floorpan. When you press it, it just makes a clicking noise. I have no idea of what it does. Anyone have any clues?

Off topic...HOUSTON??? I didn't know we had more Houston members. Where abouts, I might be able to come look at it and give you some idea. There are also 4-5 more of us in the Houston area who might be closer and be able to help.

ON TOPIC--big silver button to the left of brake pedal, almost to the left kick-panel, about as big around as a quarter or nickel???

High-beam headlight switch. If closer to the brake pedal, let me know.

headlight dimmer switch. that's how you change fron the low beams to the high beams. us old timers had to use them all the time. all cars had them back in the good old days.:)

Don, I beat you, nyea nyea naa naaa na!!!! :bananaman

Good point though, cars have changed so much in recent (last 20) years. I took my car to work and a 12-year old student of mine could not figure out how to open the door...he was looking for the handle to pull up on.

Then the seatbelts are a total loss for newbies.

Again, with a friend's 5-yr old daughter, I had to hold her hand and physically guide her to figuring out the door, and she just couldnt figure it out. She can hop her happy little butt into mom's suburban, but can't figure out the (push IN the button, pull OUT the handle, at the SAME TIME) door handles.

Think about it, high-beam switch is on the FLOOR??? it is SUPPOSED to be on one of those stick thingies on the steering column :yup:

Scott; I like the floor switch. Keeps me from having to remove the coffee from my left hand, the cell phone from my right, and adjust the XM with whichever one is free! J/K, I just like the 'old school' things on my Mav.

That switch is really tough to push if you have a clutch and big feet like mine.

The prevous owner of my maverick pushed the highbeams on one night, and the button broke through the rustly floor LOL! So now my switch is under and next to the steering wheel.

My dad got a '69 Mustang for free back in the late 80's. Driving it home the same thing happend. He said thats when he knew the car wasn't worth fixing. :) Sold it a few months later for $250. Nice profit. :)
