Can anyone suggest a good weldable primer in aerosol cans?

Summit has it for 6.98 and there are also brands being sold by paint supply sites for twice that amount. Can't say that they would be twice as good or not. :)

well what makes paints more pricyer than others is the solvents and chemical compounds that they use some are mixed using cheap matereals to start with.

Agreed and that's why I would never buy cheap spray cans of paint from Wally World or K-Mart.

I've bought a lot of good products from Summit, over the years, but have no way to compare weldable primers.

3M makes a good one and there is one I use called Pro Form that works too.
I've always had to go to decent auto paint place to buy it so it's always good stuff. It is pricey but not easy to find. Good thing is you know it works if you can weld through it right? I think it normally only comes aerosol anyway since you're traditionally only doing small areas with it (seams or areas that will be hidden once welded over).

I called some local welding supply sources, that I found on the net today, to see if they sold weldable primer. All of them were closed but one. He tells me that he has it in aerosol cans and it's 4 bucks a can. I'm figuring that this has got to be the cheap stuff that I need to stay away from so I asked him the brand name. He say it it Rustoleum so I took a ride anyway to, at least, pick up 1 can. His directions call for half dozen turns through alley ways to the rear of his house. Just look for the tanks, he says. I found 2 really beat up old garages with rusted welding tanks leaning up against one of the garages and laying on the ground. No business sign anywhere. Way up past these garages are a few houses that all had dogs chained to anything that would not move. I chose to get the hell out of there :burnout:

After seeing the place, I'm figuring that 4 dollar can of primer was priced up for a profit back when the can was new in 1972 :rofl2:

I think I'll just pick up a good can of primer from an on line paint supply source.

I use Wurth weld-through primer. I sprayed a foot long piece of steel with it once and measured the resistance end-to-end, was less than 2 ohms.

Edit: I get it on ePay fairly cheap.

Nope, sorry. I stocked up a couple years ago and haven't had to go back for more.
