There's a parachute on that thing and it has C-Clip eliminator-style axles?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!? Now there's a good idea.
the camera guy and editing on that video sucked BIG TIME! just watch until he is stopped then dont wast time on the rest
I bet there's thousands out there like that. That's what 10.5 cars are all about...put down 4-digit HP levels on stock parts. At least that's what it seems anyway. Feel kind of bad for the driver. He backed it into the wall pretty hard looks like.
The title to that video makes me think it was posted by a seventeen year old that drives his mothers Camry to the local street races.
first thing that came to my mind...I bet he was feeling pretty good about how SLOW he was that day So, do you automatically lose both wheels with c-clip eliminators? The mavs' are bolted in at both ends, so this "typically" wouldn't happen, right Just wonderin', since I run a spool, and a whoppin' 200HP (if I am lucky, and on a good day )
Well yes and no. I've seen the axles break out on the ends just near the flange, but it's RARE. Most of the time they break down on the spline end. That goes for 8" axles and 9" axles...and most of the time for most other types of axles (8.8, 9.75, Dana, GM 12 & 10 bolt, etc). Good friend of mine broke an axle in his '56 Ford (440 chrysler powered) right at the flange. Wheel, drum and all came off and got up under the quarter panel and did a number on the car. Driver wasn't hurt, but I guarantee a good laugh if you ever ask him about it. He tells the story well. Folks, this stuff is racing. You NEVER know when, if, or how bad it's going to be until it happens, and when it does, you're just going to have to go along for the ride.
But just think of the guy who's stories consist of "Back in '72, I won 3 times, lost 4 times. Then in '73, I won twice, and lost 6 times..." What we really want to hear is "then in '74, I broke the lug nuts off of one wheel, and went the entire 1/4 mile on one wheel, doing big loops with the car, kinda driving in donuts the entire length of the track. The other guy was so scared that he backed off and I still won the race for the "blah-blah" title of the year!"
