Just curious because I finally got the carb rebuilt on my car. I don't plan on having something crazy for now. But I would like to know what are some basic mods for this engine since it will basically be a weekend driver and days off driver for me. Would any of those small block magazines at Autozone be worth picking up to read on this engine?

Also, how much horsepower does this engine have?

    STEP 1- remove engine
    STEP 2- install small block
    STEP 3- have a beer

Likely cheaper to replace it with a smallblock. My buddy had a 67 stang that he spent a ton of money on the little 6. Ran down the track against my little 81 stang with a 255 small block(stock) and I beat him by 2 seconds. Not saying a 6 cant make power but a 200 is pretty small. I'd save my pennies for a small block swap.
If your set on the 6 thing throw some nitrous on it and see what happens. That could be fun.

As stated above by Gene, go to ClassicInlines for parts and join our forum at Fordsix.com.

Basic upgrades you can do easily and cheaply are Duraspark conversion with module.

From there, you need to start thinking dollars since the parts needed will cost in excess of 100 dollars each or more. You can do a carb conversion to a vaporizer type 2 barrel with adaptor. Headers will add some effieciency but nothing huge. A DUI is avaliable currently and is a simple 1 wire hookup.

To start increasing horsepower significantly, you will need to ditch the head and install a cast iron OZ 250 head or go all out with the new aluminum head. Fuel injection will be available soon as a direct bolt on.
Roller rockers are currently available fairly cheap.

If you are planning an overhaul on the block, you can go with flat top pistons, custom cams, misc.

You're the second person whose told me I should just replace it with a small block. I have a friend who told me his cousin could do it for me since he feels I would waste a lot of money on upgrading the current engine. I'll keep my options opened though.

And as much as I would like that beer, I cant do step one since I don;t have the tools necessary to remove the engine. I'll go drink that beer though.

That might be due to the server errors that have popped up lately. I will email Mike to see what is going on.
