probably street class. what is car equipped with? open headers or slicks (non DOT) usually moves you up to class 2 or whatever your track calls it.

The best thing to do is to get a NHRA or IHRA rule book and look in there. There are several classes and each will have its own specs. I can tell you that you will not be in pro stock because they are naturally aspirated (no turbo). Most likely you will fit in an outlaw street class or something like that. If you run slicks you can be in a true 10.5 class which is the max width for slicks in the class.

first of all you need to decide where you are going to race. is this going to be an nhra class car. if so you need to get the rule book first and build the car for the class. if you want to race at local tracks on weekends. california is in nhra division 7. most bracket classes are sportsman, pro, and super pro. super pro are cars that run using electronics such as delay boxes and a lot of other fancy stuff. pro cars can run open headers, usiusally a line lock, 2 step, tranny brake. and the sportsman cars run mufflers but are limited to 12.00 or 13.00 depending on the track. check whatever track is near you and ask for a set of there rules. which track is closest to you?:)

    re-class

Hey bro that 12-13 sec. is for a 1/4 mile track. If you run street class your interior has to stay stock. This is the times based on 1/8 mile track according to 2006 NHRA rule book.. Super Pro is 4.40 to 7.49 secs.
Pro is 6.40 to 8.59 secs
Sportsman is 8.20 to 12.60 secs
Any car running 135 mph must be setup accordding to a 9.90 (1/4) setup..
The membership to NHRA is going to run you about $67.00 for 2007... Hope that help some :)

I have a track called Thorn Hill raceway(1/2 hour away)by me. I love it. It's an outlaw track. They only tech you if you are crazy fast or running brackets.I hook better there than any NHRA track(I got 2 of those within 1 hr or less also)

The brackets are simple. Foot class which is typically 1/4 mile or non foot class 1/8 mile. So much more fun.
