I would like opinions on what you think of the condition of a grill emblem I got from ebay. I will be sending the seller an email tonight.

    1. from the listing

"This ornament is in good condition. It can be used for any Ford Maverick. Any questions please feel free to ask. Thanks for looking and happy e-baying!!"

    2. What I got in the mail.

when handling the box it sounds like a bunch of loose parts inside.

this didn't happen in shipping the paper should be in the middle, and there is a chip in the side that is visible from the front.

Looks to me like you bid on an NOS emblem which should be damn near perfect. I don't think you got what you paid for. That's what I would tel them and see what they say...then take it from there.

Looks like it was swapped out on a car and put back in the box and put back on the shelf.

The only thing I would add is you did not pay an NOS price. NOS normally fetches $75 to $150. I think you made a buy. Yes...the seller should have told you it was in pieces....but it is quite possible he is unfamiliar with this Maverick part and assumed it came that way. Just have to wait and see what he says.

    Just my opinion.

I think the paper goes between the emblem and plate. I had one that had been taken apart by drilling the rivets and then put back together with screws. Ford used to sell the plastic emblem insert separate so you could replace it if it cracked or got chipped. Looks like this one was taken apart and never but back together?

i wouldnt complain...... yes the description is wrong BUT in a good way and a not-so-good way.

    1. listed as used but NOS or very close (good thing)
    2. disassembled, would have helped if he would have mentioned that (not-so-good thing)
    3. price, you can't beat it (good thing)

    this is all IMO.... :)

You're right. I didn't notice it said used. It's kind of misleading when they show a factory box with it.

The thing that I find with NOS parts is sometimes theres a reason they were never used, they have small scratches, dents, etc. I know when I worked at Ford dealer, sometimes they would try a part, and when it didn't fix the problem, that part went back on the shelf.

It still happens to this day! I get parts in at my body shop that have been put back in the box and retaped. Sometimes these parts have even been painted. Heck, I've done the same thing so I can't talk. Nothing like ordering a bumper cover, your painter paints it, body man THEN discovers it doesn't have fog light holes. Hard to find good help any more.
