My wife mixed up a batch of The Original "Oxi-clean" and water in a Bucket and put a set of really grundgy looking seat belts in it.

She used about 2-3 scoops of Oxi-clean with about 3 1/2 gallons of water.

She didn`t even scrub the belts at all but stired them around in the water about once every 30 minutes (about 3 hours total soaking time)and when she took them out of the bucket they looked almost brand new.

We were very impressed with the results.

Does your wife have a sister? Finding a woman that will just do regular laundry is hard enough. And yours does seatbelts too. (y) She must be an awesome woman.

While the seatbelts were soaking she removed the seats, carpet, and console.
Shampooed the carpet, cleaned the seats with fabric cleaner...then when it was all dry the next afternoon she re-installed the whole interior.:yup:

I was working under the hood at the time.

MAV, you need to stop. You're killing me here. Are all women like that where you are from? If so, I will need a real estate agent for Georgia.

    SWEET.

Did it affect the metal parts any?

This question came to me cause I am trying to think of a way to clean the aluminum parts on the front of the comet, the chrome on all the car actually. Not too many parts inside to have to clean, but the seat bealt buckles will need a polishing as one of the touches.:drink:

I used a tire brush and some soapy water along with some 409. Worked great but I like MAV's way much better, get the wife to do it. :D

On the 2 sets of belts we have done this way ,the metal actually looked a little shinier when they were done ...but maybe that was just due to the belts being so clean and bright .

Any good upholstery shop can put new belt webbing on your buckles. Probably a good idea anyway since sun weakens the material over the years. Black webbing is fairly cheap.
