What sending unit has everyone been using with the later model 19 gallon tanks? I was going to just use the one I had but it doesn't work.

Really? That's great, are they available? What year Granada should I ask for?

.....which John you find out is not available.

I seem to recall somebody on here using a Mustang unit and putting a longer pick up tube on it or adding an extension.

Interesting. Spork never said whether the mustang unit read correctly or not. I"ll pribably give it a try though unless somebody has a better idea.

I used the Mustang one. I bent the...float arm...so as to read empty with 2 gals. left in tank. the full side stays full for about 125 miles but the main thing...the empty reads correctly...:Handshake

I picked up the 71-73 mustang unit for $27 yesterday. Last night I fitted it in the tank and saw the float was hitting the bottom and not nearly reaching the top. So I bent the arm so that it's an inch or so from the bottom and it's also an inch or so from the top. The pickup tube/filter was close to the bottom but wasn't touching so I left it alone. I'm not using this unit for the pickup (I have a sump welded in) anyway so it doesn't matter. The sump should also give me an extra gallon or so of reserve after the gauge says empty. I won't be able to find out for a while how it all works with the gauge but I'll try to reply to this at that time.

is the full sweep on the unit...maxed top to bottom...or does it reach it"s limit before getting to the end of the travel?

Not sure exactly what you're asking but the float maxes out top and bottom and does not hit the tank in either direction. I'm not sure what the gauge reads because it's not hooked up yet and the tank isn't even in the car.
