Just looking through the trunk, the speaker holes for the rear window appear to be 6X9's, but I have made the mistake with Fords before and they have been 5X7's. Anybody know for sure so that I don't have to crawl into the trunk to measure?

well I tried making the 6x9's fit but I found that I had to make some cuts into my 71 mav.

6x9's will fit with minor modifications to the mounting holes. I haven't tried a 6x8 but they might be a perfect fit.

for the 6x9 I had to make a cut into the metal to widen it and slightly lengthen the pre-existing hole.

I have never had a problem with mounting 6 x 9's in the back. Never had to cut anything. I always mount them under the rear deck. One will have to drill mounting holes.

Installed a set of 6X9's in the back. It went pretty easy using a dremel to follow the existing holes in the back dash. Not quite as clean as I had hoped, but it could have been worse. I installed an old pair of JVC 6X9's that I had and they dont sound too bad. I am probably going to pick up an amp and a bit better pair soon though, gotta get some boom going.

6x9's worked perfect in my 76 maverick. i also put the cones under the metal hooked into the mounting screws, and now they sound even better.

i mounted my 6X9 up from the bottom instead of down from the top so that their on the mount pad. i was careful to line up the cone though so that even at full extension it shouldnt hit the metal mount. then you dont have to use the factory grill also and can leave the panel on with whatever fancy hole setup you want....

Dang fast typer beat me to it...hehe
