The car has some serious body work needed and the shop quoted me 4000 to redo the maverick. I am afraid the shop is going to use bondo which I am not a fan of. But for a 4000 job what should I expect?
Expect them to fill holes (with whatever) get the body straight...Then they will top it off with a commercially acceptable paint job.
Well...If you want proper rust removal/repair and a show/cruise worthy paint job....expect to pay 8 to 15 K
I rather pay that much if it's done right. I learned if you don't do it right the first time it will bite you in the ass later. I am suppose to see the guy tomorrow to go over everything. When I received the quote by the shop owner I was shocked when he said 4k I thought it would be more.
I have about $4100 invested in my paint. $850 was for bead blasting...$3k for epoxy primer/BC-CC paint/labor...$250 to buff it out. This included welding/smoothing holes from the side trim and emblems.
I have $4000.00 in my paint job. It was completed in 2005. Base coat /clear coat. still looks good. Has some gravel chips in places but they are easy to fix. Not a dailey driver.Car shows and cruise in only.
It depends on what you want to pay the shop to do. If you completely strip the car of all chrome, glass, paint, interior etc., you can lower the cost of the paint job considerably. Just keep in mind that every hour YOU spend getting the car ready for them will be manhours that will not be charged by the shop. Ditto for reassembling the car and putting everything back on after it is painted.
I did disassemble and reassemble it. I also painted under the hood, under the trunk and around the doors. Two small silver dollar size holes in the front rear quarters were repaired. I also sprayed the tail panel Satin black.
I completely agree. I was expecting a price around 8000. I just wanted to see what everyone thoughts are I posted more pictures of the car to help show what needs to be straighten or cut out.
