im in the market for a new converter 3200-3500 range any thoughts.and does anyone know anything about boss hog converters? thanks john
John, how did you come up with 3200 - 3500 rpm range? Is this for a track only or a street car? What kind of power do you have? How much does your car weigh? (with driver) .
paul my cam has a 3000 to 6500 rpm range motor will be around 425 hp and car weight is 2900 with me in it.hughes performance just got back to me and said i need a 4000 stall with all the info i gave them. seems a little high but there the experts. so i will be going with a hughes 41-40. thanks john P.S. paul it is a strip only car
Unless off the shelf is what you want... but I think converters need to be matched to your vehicle, you will be much happier with the results.
...you still need to know what stall you need... call converter company...give them the specs.... get their opnion and then buy...off the shelf... been there, done that...
Cool! Your setup is similar to my Mustang II, 351W 400hp, 2800 lbs with driver. Ive got an 8" TCI, which was made after I gave them all my specs. I think Im a 3800 stall. I picked up close to half a second coming down from a 10" street converter.
I bought a redneck performance 4500 stall for the glide in the mustang. It should be back together in a couple weeks and I will tell you my opinion of it
4000 rpm stall is probably close for a strip only vehicle - you might be better off with a bit more but try the 4000 first. My guess is that it will not stall to 4000 but somewhere between 3000 and 3500. You probably aren't getting peak torque before 4500 rpm anyway.
