Sounds like a starter or flywheel/flexplate problem...not transmission.

have gone thru a new torq conv/ring and starter, same prob came back again. have replaced everything in the driveline but the flexplate. vibration goes away when shifted into neutral, starter sounds like its clashing with teeth on ring when it doesnt miss completely...

vibration comes in about 40-45 mph mark and keeps a steady rythmn. when i coast with auto trans in gear vibration changes rythmn but when shifted into neutral it goes away. starter problems went about 6-8 months before symtoms came back after the parts were replaced. vibration never went way.

Vibration sounds like either a transmission mount worn out or a U-Joint. Check both and see if that is the problem.
As far as the starter problem is concerned, if it went for 6 months or so then I would look at replacing the starter again. Did you put a reman starter in it? Some of the reman starters have some issues.

From the first post it sounds like starter relay/solenoid problem.
