What valve covers do you have on your 302 and 351w that have a big cam and roller rockers. I have a .523 lift cam and 1.6 scorpion roller rockers and a stock valve cover is way to short. Just figured I would see what everybody is running

I have a .555 lift cam with Scorpion 1.6 rr's. Running old Cobra valve covers with a Felpro extra thick gasket that has steel sandwiched between two layers of cork. Did have to ding one of the internal baffles. Never measured but my Edelbrock heads may have raised valve cover rails.

I have Edelbrock heads, Crane gold 1.6 roller rockers. Had a .543 lift. I'll have to look but I think its now in the .550 range. I have the Maverick logo valve covers. They work fine for me.:)

Are they WAY too short, or do they just need some die grainder clearance in the baffle area?

I run ford racing tall valve covers both of my iron headed cars (pedistal roller rockers on one, stud one the other), felpro extra thick gaskets. No grinding of baffles.

Don't grind the baffles! that can lead to oil consumption through the PCV valve.
If you have tried the covers you have and they hit then get taller covers.
Just because you have high lift doesn't mean that they will hit the covers.

I got some valve covers off a junk yard truck. ($15). After cleaning and sanding and painting and they work fine with 1.7 pedistal rollers rockers

I'm running 83 Stang finned aluminum covers (without the baffles) on top of 1" aluminum spacers. The spacers have made all the difference in controlling gasket leaks at the rear. If I'd known this, I'd have bough the spacers long ago. Maybe one day I'll get the baffles put back into the covers and stop the seepage out the filler holes too. Cam is a Z303 (.587 lift with the Comp 1.7 full roller rockers)
