I've had my T5 "z-spec" installed for awhile now and ever sents it was installed and it has always "stepped" into gear, to explain more in depth it feels like the shifter has 2 or 3 steps/stages it goes through before it's fully in gear, so I can't speed shift because of the resistance. Is this normal or is something wrong. Also I'm running Valvaline "Dex/Merc" fluid which is what was recommended by the mechanic who helped me install the transmission. I'd appreciate any and all info. Thank you.
sounds like the syncro rings are worn. they grab the gear and bring it to a matching speed then allows the sleve to engage it to lock it toghter.
And that could be the only thing causing it? Am I using the correct trans fluid? Or atleast a adaquit one? thanks
I've always heard GM synchromesh transmission fluid is the best to put in them. That's what I put in the T5Z I put in my dad's Mustang, and it shifts nice.
