I got 4 American racing 14x6 rims. Are they gonna rub the leaf springs or anything (front too)when i throw them on my 75 mav? And what tires should I throw on them?
The wheel won't rub the spring...no telling what the tire will rub without knowing the size of the tire
I have 245/60R14 BFG Radials on American Racing 200s wheels on my Maverick and they do not touch the springs. Bruce
No spacers, it's bolted right to the drum.The spacing is out a little bit from stock because I have a '70 Mustang 9" differential but when it still had the stock 8" these exact same 7" x 14" rims and 245/60x14 tires did not touch anywhere. Bruce
Those would be fine for the rear. I would say 205/70/14 for the front. 215/70/14 would be another choice for the front.
I have a hard time imagining a 14x6 giving you a real problem fitting tires, unless it is like some of the more modern wheels that have a bunch of positive offset, moving it toward the leaf spring. Try mocking the bare wheel up on the rear axle, and measure the distance between the wheel and the spring. It will give us a better idea what you are dealing with. Even a "normal" old-school wheel will be closer to the spring on these cars. The rear axle is pretty narrow. Also, you can look up how to measure offset. Keep in mind that you are measuring from the inner surface the tire contacts, not the outside of the rim. You should look to tire manufacturers spec for suggested rim size. I think you will find that 225s are usually a safe fit. A 205/60/14, like you are thinking about is awfully short and will look "cartoon-ish" on your car.
