I've been looking for replacement foam rubber for the heater box blend doors in a 71 Comet with factory A/C.
I've heard things like some from a non a/c Mustang "should" work, or "just make your own, buy the foam, cut it and glue it on."
The Comet A/C heater box doors are more rectangular in shape than the Mustang non A/C boxes I've seen. Granted I didn't look at all years. I was in NPD and saw a foam kit for a non A/C Mustang heater box (68 I think) and it wouldn't be much help.
Is anyone sure what year Mustang heater box Foam WITH A/C will work on a 71 Comet?

I really need to get some foam for all the heater box doors in this Comet. It is a small thing like this foam that puts a stop on this project.

Someone mentioned a sheet of peel and stick form from a refrigerator and A/C shop. OK. Good.
Anyone know of an on-line store??? There aren't any stores near my house. At $2.49/gallon of gas, I'm not driving all over just to get some foam rubber... my time is pretty valuable.... I would rather order on line, pay some shipping and be back in the garage working than drive half a day looking for foam rubber...

I can't be the only guy that wanted to replace the foam on all the doors in a Mav/Comet heater box. I just need to be pointed to Exactly the right spot for the right part the first time. I don't want to buy foam kits from 3 different cars just to get enough to do one Mav/Comet box. I just want to do this and move on to the rest of the restoration on the car. 3 weeks of looking for foam rubber is driving me nuts...

    Thanks.
Please help me out , again :)>

How about some peel and stick weatherstripping from a hardware store? Comes in 1/8; 1/4; 3/8 and 1/2 at Home Depot and Lowes.

    Which Mustang kit?

Fan2488. When you say you used the ones from the Mustang, what year? A/C or non A/C kit?
Does your car have the factory A/C box?
