I am looking for a metal passenger fender and hood for a '72 mav. Am in touch with American Muscle Car Parts. Anybody else people using? I found a site, based in Canada i think, a while back but no luck finding them again.
Thanks! Back at it with a little $$$ to throw around finally!

Best bet is to post in the wanted section here and tell them what you want. Glad to see you back at it.:)

Will do, Don. Great to be back. I'm convinced that this is the best forum on the web and it's a big part of me staying interested in my cars with college going full throttle. I'm away from home til August but I'll post in the wanted section. I have two parts cars I want to sell/donate to someone rather than the scrap yard. Maybe I can gets a trade...

    Thanks, Rick!

So, It turns out that I wasted some money shipping in a less than worthy fender. The parts I've seen aren't any better than the ones i've got and mine aren't any good. I could have sworn found a sheet metal place and it was in Canada. Maybe it was glass and I am just remembering incorrectly. Is there anywhere to get new metal body parts? I'm aware of the rear quarters.

    Good Fenders

    Rick,

My fenders are good. No dents are rust. Let me know if you want to try again. Maybe shipping will be less than I expect.

It's good that you forgot about the place in Canada. They have crappy stuff. I'm sure you are talking about Show Cars & Parts...or something like that. Do a search here if you find the exact name and you'll see what I mean. I recommend checking with rwbrooks on his parts. (y)

    Thanks, razorsharp,
    I'll do that.
It may be the company but idk or remember. the thing is what with is already wrong with car the body guy can't deal with new parts that aren't perfect. I know I know. but its pro bono work so I can't complain. I may just have to pass and try to learn how to do it myself. I really like the Mav and I don't want it to be a big scratch sheet with all my mistakes on it. I don't think my dad realizes to tell this guy that the cowls and floor need some serious tlc before anyone thinks of paint.

I believe it is. I thought they had metal fenders and hood. not gonna order from them and I'm not gonna order any glas from anyone. I'm gonna fix my parts myself, so help me, God and this forum! I can't afford glas!

I have a question: Does anyone know of places you can go to sandblast big parts (fender size)? I found a place to help me when I was building my AK but they could only do little things.

If you have a compressor look on Northern tools or one of those wholesale toold sites and buy a cheap sandblaster. The do not cost much and with a decent compressor they work well.

I have a glorified nail gun compressor. I believe its 5 or 6 scfm. I found a few.
I guess I could just set up a big canvass drop cloth and blast away. I can reuse the beads if i collected them all. Can you by beads and what not at lowes/home depot?

    http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=203468212&listingid=34177184&dcaid=17902

i like this one: http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&productId=100008764&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&ci_sku=100008764&ci_src=14110944&cm_mmc=shopping-_-google-_-D25X-_-100008764 or this one: http://www.dpciwholesale.com/cart.php?target=product&product_id=3197

    I like this idea....:yup::clap:(y)

Some one that knows about bead prices or if these siphon guns do the job let me know before I continue my buying frenzy on ebay :evilsmile
