iv decided to keep a three speed in my car and i need to find a new c4 or remanufactured c4 at a good price. where can i find one?
Take yours in and get it rebuilt? Rebuild it yourself, if you are a bit mechanically inclined and have a bunch of spare rags and absorbent around the garage. I happened upon one from craigslist, built by a guy at SAM School of Automotive Machinists in Houston, good price and only 10k miles on it. But built back to stock, not an upgrade. But it seems to be handling my 330 hp just fine.
I have my original one sitting on end in the garage in a thick cardboard box. Been dripping for about 2 years. SOMEDAY, I will tear it down and build it 500hp proof. Someday...maybe.
I got one from Broader Performance and am pleased wiith it. They give a 10% discount to members. See the ad in ShortHorns.
Jay, at Broader Performance has a C4 rated at 500 hp for $900. I doubt you can beat his price and reputation anywhere.
i only have a 250 so i wouldn't need a transmission rated up to 500 hp. are there any other places that transmissions rated for a lower hp that are also cheaper?
Just take yours in for a refurbish. Probably good for 350 hp with just a basic rebuild. shouldn't be too expensive. C4s are very popular. Pretty much anyone can do a rebuild if you arent asking for a performance rebuild.
I just had 2 rebuilt 2 weeks ago at a local tranny shop. $625 apiece. They also need the torque convertor.
Ken, where are you at? If you are close enough to Seattle, WA. to come and get it I have a stock C4 that had been used for a loaner. It was completely refit after the last loan - all new bushings, thrust washers, frictions and steels. It is as close to a new C4 as you could want. The thing is I don't ship so it would have to be picked up. I only need $400 for it.
