Does anybody have hood-pins installed? Please post pictures and ideas on installation location are appreciated. I'm expecting mine tomorrow or Friday  . They are stainless steel hood-pins from a Chevelle SS 71, hope they are as good as described.

The easiet way to mount them is in the radiator support.
Mine were locking. The lock cylinder snapped down flush with the hood over the pin.
It required a little more room underneath. It was a long time ago, but there was some reason they needed to mount in the higher section of support. This put them into the upturn area of the hood, so the plates had to be massaged to follow the contour.
I wish I could remember what the interference was, I would never mount them in that part of the hood again though. Now the hood has holes in the contour which will be much harder to patch. Compared to putting the holes in a flat surface...

    Exactly

Does anybody have the stock hood bumpers in place and hood-pins? I would like to keep the bumpers if possible.

    Show me some pictures please.

I used those same hood pins. They were the only ones with decent round plates that weren't just thin as tin. I used the pins with the round spring-loaded doohicky. Then I use a spare chunk of rubber on the pin as the hood bumper. You can see it in this picture...[IMG]

Great, this is probably the right way to do this. Still waiting for the pins though, maybe tomorrow.

I bought a set from the Chevelle parts place, and a Mr. Gasket set from O'Reilly. I used the round scratch plate from the Chevelle kit, because it had a nice thick plate. I think I used the pin and clevis (is that what it is called) from the Mr. Gasket, since it was bigger in diameter and had the spring loaded pin with the round ring, rather than the "bobbie pin" looking one (looks kinda like a dollar sign with the center line off to the side, not down the middle). I still have all the parts in a bag for future use if my setup rusts away.

The chevelle kit has nice plastic-coated wires, also. I just used my homemade wires with the plastic ones on reserve for after the rust kicks in.

I installed the hood-pins today in the place you suggested, see attached photo.
    I think it looks great:29:

I bought new screws because the screws that come with the kit are not stainless. The plate and pins are stainless and the plates are thick (approx 2.5mm).

Yeah, those Chevelle plates are nice and thick, won't bend or flex when screwed on.

My first set were mr. gasket, and as I screwed them on, the plates started to warp and flex. I had spaces under 2 sides... The Chevelle ones don't flex, and come with a nice rubber gasket to keep from scratching your paint.
