The trans crossmember? If I remember right it has an R with an arrow to indicate rear.

    I'll add that:

I believe the V-8 tranny crossmember has a sharper rise, on the dog-leg bend on the driver's side. This helps to accomodate a dual exhaust pipe, on the driver's side.

I have not yet installed mine, for my v8 conversion, so maybe some of the other members can chime in here, that have more experience.

Yea.. Chilton's listed that in the picture but I had assumed it meant rear mount. Thanks!

doing the six to v8 swap.. it's a different crossmember. Went up both ways when I just held it up there.... :hmmm:
I like the "R" stamp answer - even tho mine doesn't have a stamp, I could figure it out :tiphat:

uhh.. The I6 x-member had one side with a sharper rise. The V8 one doesn't seem to (or the one I have doesn't seem to).

You will probobly have it out as you stab the trans. Support the trans and look at the trans mount holes and see if they ligne up to the front or back..
