I need to get my Comet bumpers re-chromed to match the rest of my restoration, but have heard so much good and bad about various re-chroming companies. Who do you know that is truly good and reasonable... and the chrome does not peel 6 months later?

    Frank,

Here is a direct link to the thread showing your before and after pics ...

    Still blows my mind!

I ran across a 69.5 Mav in a local yard and ended up snagging the front bumper only after seeing your pics ... it is in somewhat better shape than the one you started out with. I would have walked away from it previously, thinking it was too far gone.

Had my 71' front re-chromed locally here in NJ for $225, rust started 12 months later, waste of my money. Did some research and found this company, all they do is straighten and re-chrome bumpers, nothing else:

    North Star Plating Company
    2110 S. 10th St.
    Brainerd, MN 56401
    (218)-829-4063

$339 and your core, show quality, not cheap.

Chroming is kind of like getting a car painted. You get what you pay for.
