I need to figure out what size belt to use. I think you mentioned it in the post.

I have power steering, water pump, alternator, crank, and tensioner only. No A/C.

I deleted the thread because it got WAY off topic. Forgot to write down the belt size.

Scott, You can always just run a string or cloth tape measure around to find length but I bet you knew that:)

I would have to somehow extend the tensioner and keep it extended while I measure. That thing has some pretty serious torque on it.

I've used a ⅜" drive ratchet and a slide over piece of pipe to do that. Push down ( or up as the case may be ) on the ratchet to set the tensioner and slide the pipe over it so it can rest on another pulley, bracket, or something strong enough to hold it. I've done that many times on those ones where you need three hands to get the belt on! :)

But, still need 2 more hands to run the string and measure it. Would have to be a 2 person job, or figure a way to keep it propped in an extended position.

Whoever posted the picture of how to route the belt gave me the belts number, i think...

ill run the string with out moving the tensioner and then get a shorter belt. i think is usually 1 inch or 1.5 inches shorter. i sense i have a shop i usually order a few of the belts in the rage and send back the ones that i dont need.

That may have been me. I re-routed the belt over the WP pulley the opposite of OEM to clear the lower hose. The part # I used was for AC though, so it would be too long. Pulling a string and measuring 1-1.5 in shorter is the best idea yet.

another tip. i dont use a string or wire, i have an old really long belt that i have cut. i will rout it the way i want then i draw a line where the end crosses. then take it off and measure it.

Gene, I need to go up just a touch, to compensate for the flex where the tensioner will push it downward.

    Nope, regular old metal one.

Using string that falls into the grooves, it measured at 79. Still, if I add that 1.5" we are right back at 80.5"
